Essays

I occasionally write about experiences that feel life-changing.  Here you’ll find two.  They’re serious pieces and deeply heartfelt, so please don’t go in expecting a chuckle.

One is a story that took place while snipers were shooting their way through the Washington area in 2002.  I had occasion to spend time with the family of one of the victims while her killers were still on the loose.  See What a Day!

The other is a reflection about my only child going off to college.  I received an award from American Mothers magazine in a 2006 essay contest for this piece.  See Essence of a Growing Boy.
